Ben leads all facets of the company’s operations, including its strategic direction and execution, finance and industry relations. He brings extensive domestic and global experience in business development, infrastructure development and capital markets to his leadership of Maricann. Ben holds a BA (Honors) and an MBA from Bradford University School of Management (England), the latter with a dual concentration in Operations and Finance.
A long-time pharmaceutical executive, Terry was integral in establishing and running two privately held generic pharmaceutical companies. Under his leadership, both organizations were recognized as the fastest growing pharma companies in Canada. Both companies were subsequently acquired by publicly traded multinationals. Terry served as President and General Manager of Watson Pharmaceuticals – Canada before assuming his responsibilities at Maricann.
Chief Financial Officer
Scott has over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in both Canada and the United States. Scott has held CFO positions at publicly traded pharmaceutical companies including Tribute Pharmaceuticals, and Virexx Medical Corp. Past financial experience includes Vice President at Biovail Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Director, Corporate Finance at Biovail Corporation. Scott has a professional accounting designation and an MBA from the University of Toronto.
DR. STEVEN Bennett
Chief Scientific officer
Dr. Bennett is a molecular biologist with a background in transdermal drug delivery. As Maricann’s Scientific Director, he sources and develops new products, ensuring their scientific and technical rigour. Steven holds two patents and has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. He earned a B.Sc. in biochemistry from Eckerd College, and received his Ph.D. in molecular biology – with an emphasis on neuroscience – from The University of South Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Thomas Klumpp, Ph.D.
Qualified Person –
Dr. Klumpp joins the Maricann team after a 27-year term with Bayer, holding senior positions within the corporation including, Manager of CC Production, Africa, Asia, Australia; Head of Production in the Bitterfeld manufacturing facility (manufacture of 9 billion plus capsules per year). Thomas completed his Ph.D. at the University of Bonn – Centre of Pharmaceutical Technology and is licensed to practice Pharmacy in Germany.
DR. Alexandre Sibilev
Regulatory affairs and compliance officer
Dr. Sibilev has worked in the pharmaceutical sector for over 20 years, with experience in quality control, quality assurance, regulatory affairs and compliance. Alex ensures quality medication is provided to patients that is consistent, reliable and safe for consumption. Alex holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Moscow State University.
Sr. Director, Security
With 30 years of progressive industry experience in Life Sciences with global Fortune 500 companies such as Novartis, DuPont, Amgen, and Actavis Stephen has a wealth of Information Technology expertise in infrastructure, systems, security, application development, and network management. As the Senior Person in Charge (SPIC) he ensures Maricann complies with Health Canada’s security requirements. Stephen holds a BAA from Ryerson University in Information Management and MSc from Syracuse University (USA) in Information Technology. He also volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and the Norfolk County Fire Department.
General Manager Maricann GmbH
A certified industrial designer by trade, Josef brings extensive experience in development and global project management to Maricann Europe.
His considerable Industry network is invaluable to the success of the German and European Maricann operations. Josef coordinates and manages organization and oversight of the required Infrastructure and the design of fully compliant production facilities.
Pharmacy Project Management
Veronica has 20 years of experience in project management and supply chain in pharmaceutical, consumer packaged goods and retail pharmacy industries, including Apotex, Johnson & Johnson and Shoppers Drug Mart. As an operational leader, she has proven successes within fast-paced dynamic environments in both domestic and international markets. Veronica is PMP certified and holds a BA (Honors) from Trinity College, University of Toronto.
Director, Investor Relations
Graham has been deeply involved with the capital markets for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Maricann, Mr. Farrell worked in every aspect of the investment banking business, from running an equity trading desk to financing public companies. Graham studied Political Science at the University of Waterloo, he is an avid golfer.
Vice President Sales & Marketing
Geoff has played a key role in shaping the marketing and strategic direction of many iconic household brands in Canada for the past 20 years. Most recently, he was the Head of Marketing at Diageo, Canada’s largest Spirits company. Geoff understands selling and marketing brands in regulated industries.
Past audit partner of Ernst and Young’s German practice, responsible partner for the Technology, Media & Entertainment sector at Ernst & Young for the Germany, Switzerland, Austria (GSA) Region. A Certified Public Auditor and Tax consultant, Mr. Müller studied economics and English in Munich and Manchester (UK). He left Ernst & Young in 2013 and has been working in his own practice since then. Since July 1, 2013, Mr. Müller has also been deputy chairman of m4e AG, a German listed media company. Gerhard is an independent member of the company’s Board of Directors.
Dr. Eric Silver
With extensive experience using medical cannabis to treat chronic pain, Dr. Silver co-founded L.E. Medical in 2002, a nutraceutical and natural health supplement company. Dr. Silver is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Teacher in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is a member of the College of Family Physicians of Canada, with a focused practice in interventional pain management.
Paul Pathak is a partner at Chitiz Pathak LLP, a Toronto law firm. Paul practices principally in the areas of corporate, securities, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and commercial law. He represents and provides sophisticated guidance to private and public corporate clients in a broad range of industries, including mining, technology, cannabis, manufacturing, venture capital and merchant banking.
Michael Stein currently acts as a financial consultant and advises clients on various matters, including acquisitions, divestitures, corporate financings, re-organizations and restructurings. Mr. Stein is currently the President, Secretary and director of Applied Inventions Management Corp. (“AIM”), and the President and director of WFE Investments Corp., a secured shareholder of AIM. Mr. Stein is the former President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Danbel Ventures Inc. and is a former director and V.P. Corporate Affairs of Danbel Industries Corporation. Prior to his role with Danbel Industries Corporation , Mr. Stein served as Director U.S. Money Markets for a federally chartered Canadian Trust Company and prior thereto was a Senior Institutional Money Banker for a Savings & Loan Association based in Long Beach, California. Mr. Stein majored in economics and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from York University.
